February 9th marks the beginning of the Divatiel virtual book tour, thanks to Virtual Book Tour Cafe. Over the next five weeks, you’ll be able to follow my guest blog posts and author interviews regarding my bird book on a variety of spectacular blogs across the Internet as well as Blog Talk Radio.

I’m so excited to have this opportunity to share with you fun details about my cockatiel book, my writing life and myself. It’s a bit crazy as I have a lot of special writing during this time, but I’m so honored to participate in this journey.

The bird books have flown in!

I was so excited when I went to get my mail yesterday to see that printed copies of my bird book, Divatiel: Reflections of a bird’s companion, had arrived. It seems I’ve been waiting for these forever!

It was such a great feeling to open the box and find multiple little cockatiel faces staring up at me, my darling Jake’ adorned with her tiara.

I know people have been waiting for the print copies to arrive, so now is the time to buy! Please keep in mind friends and acquaintances of yours that are animal lovers, too. This is a book that anyone will enjoy and if they’ve had any experience with animals whatsoever, they can identify with!

My goal is to set aside a portion of the proceeds to pay it forward and help pets of other loving owners. I’ll provide more details as sales progress.

The cockatiel and the tiara

In the  book, Divatiel, Reflections of a bird’s companion, I answer frequently asked questions about life with my fine feathered friend, such as can she talk or where does she poop. However, until everyone saw the book cover, I never heard the question: Is that really her wearing a tiara?

To be perfectly honest, I’d give high praise to anyone who could wrangle my little Diva and put anything on her head! While it’s a good question, I’m sorry to say that the photo is Jake’, but the tiara has been added thanks to the wonders of Photoshop.

I must admit, I chuckled uproariously the first time I saw the cover. Shelly Volsche had captured a different tiara and quickly put it atop her head, to make sure she understood what I was looking for regarding the cover design. It was just a tad askew, as if the Princess had a rough night and was getting home in the wee hours of the morning.

I knew it was right the second I saw it, and we went in search of the perfect tiara to adorn her pretty little plume. We both settled on the purple stones at first glance!

Those of you who would like your own tiara, they should be arriving here sometime in late February. They’re not an exact match, but will make an excellent gift to the diva in your life – even if that diva is you!

Divatiel Now Available on Kindle and Nook

That’s right, folks! The book you’ve all been waiting for, about my life with a precocious cockatiel, is now available for your Amazon Kindle or Barnes and Noble Nook readers. Also, if you have an iPad and use either Kindle or Nook software, you can purchase it here.

We’re still waiting on printed copies, which should be in by the end of January. If you like, you may purchase the printed copies here, and we’ll be sure to get them in the mail just as soon as they arrive.

Printed copies are $15 each and the Kindle or Nook e-books are $9.99 each.
